With the recent growth of competition in the employment marketplace, companies are looking to the web to hire quality candidates quickly and cost-effectively. The Internet has opened up the recruiting roadway, offering the assistance necessary to hire top talent, decrease recruiting costs and reduce time-to–hire.

The Internet is taking the competitive job pool and offering a well-educated, computer savvy community of candidates for recruiters searching for great employees. It is also creating a way for recruiters to quickly connect with candidates with a specific skill-set, in a particular region or in a specific industry with the simple click of a button. No longer do recruiters have to search through hard copy resumes, when with the use of a few simple keywords, they can have immediate information on the brightest individuals at their fingertips.

The days of waiting for "snail" mailed resumes are long gone. The web has decreased the time-to-hire significantly by offering 24-hour service. Recruiters can now search resume banks for candidates, receive emailed resumes and contact potential hires at any time – anywhere. Response time from the candidate has also been reduced due to the ability to conduct business via email. Thus, the web is allowing for recruiters to connect with candidates in a much more time and efficient fashion.

The net is offering information to recruiters ranging from the latest findings HR Law to interviewing methods and hiring strategies. Networking with other HR professionals is also much easier via HR sites and email. Recruiters have found a new outlet for sharing ideas, information and comments.

Recruiters have also found the Internet to be much more cost-effective than conventional hiring methods. What usually cost into the thousands for one cost-per-hire through traditional methods, cost about 10% of that via the Internet. Most career sites charge about $100/per job posting that will be seen immediately by millions of job seekers all over the world. How can that even compare to local newspaper advertising that is more expensive and seen by only a small group of candidates? Recruiters also save money in administrative tasks like filing resumes and manually opening & sorting mailed resumes.

In summary, the Internet has become a revolutionary new tool for recruiters around the world. It costs less and provides better results than conventional recruiting methods. It promotes more efficient and effective communication between recruiters and candidates. The web has become the recruiting tool of the future.
