Many people hate to get up in the morning and start their day. They complain about the weather, they complain about their neighbors, they complain about their employees, or they complain about their boss and their job. The problem is they don’t have a plan to be positive. In other words, they don’t have a strategy to hit the ground running. They don’t know how to make the most out of their gift of one more day. They don’t know how to use it to live their life more fully. If you work in an business job or are looking for an business job, this kind approach makes it extremely difficult for you to be successful in how you use your time. In order to change this scenario, you will have to change your attitude. No one can do it for you. You alone must make it happen.
This reminds me of a poem I once heard from the late Cavett Robert. It goes like this:
“Every morning that I wake up,
my pocketbook is magically filled with this precious priceless substance we call time.
And when tomorrow comes and I have given up a whole day for it.
I want to be something good, not bad,
something gained not lost,
something I can be proud of.
And yet, nature is so forgiving isn’t she?
Even if I waste it, each night I burn the records of the day.
At sunrise every soul is born again.
Again I wake up and 24 more of these non-refundable fragments of eternity are magically placed in my pocket book.
Have you ever heard someone say he doesn’t have enough time?
We have all the time we need.
The hands of the clock go around for the same rate speed for every one of us.
Unless we are willing to start right now, then next week next month, next year, ten years from now, we will still be bogged down in the quicksand of complacency. We will still be listening to the siren song of procrastination.”
If you only had one month to live what would you do different with those precious thirty days?
Would you spend more time with you family? Would you spend more time with your friends? How would you spend your last 720 hours? If it is any different than you been using those hours now, then you have answered your question. The beautiful thing, is as far as you know at this moment, you have the rest of your life to live not just 720 hours. It’s up to you to make sure your attitude is the kind that will help you make the very most of it.
