    Responsibilities

    Work study student employees are representative of Mayo Clinic, working cooperatively with all Mayo Clinic staff, external clients, students, and advisors. Is responsible to and receives direction from assigned department supervisor. Work study employment provides students that have interest in a healthcare career and view Mayo Clinic as an employer of choice an opportunity to explore our culture, gain field experience and pursue their career goals.

    The work study employee is responsible for completing delegated work assignments to reinforce the learning experience and to provide benefit to the work unit. Opportunities for mentorship and career development may be made available to work study employees.

    The work study employee will be responsible for indicating changes in financial aid award to their assigned supervisor, as well as the work study office. The work study employee schedule will be arranged collaboratively between the work study employee and assigned department supervisor and in compliance with the financial aid award amount and minimum hours per week requirements.

    Lab Specific Description : The work-study student will have the chance to work in a Basic Research laboratory that focuses on Physiology (cell, organ and whole animal function), tissue regeneration, as well as a variety of quantitative methods (e.g., electrophysiology, quantitative cellular imaging, preclinical imaging). The work-study student will help with laboratory upkeep, and if interest and time permit, may also be involved in parts of laboratory experiments. All necessary skills will be taught to the student by laboratory personnel or the lab principle investigator

    Qualifications

    The incumbent must be enrolled in a degree program from a college or university and possess skill set to do assigned work.

    This position has a predetermined rate of $15.60 per hour. Compensation Details: Minimum $2700 work study financial award dedicated to the position. This is a non-benefits eligible position.

    This program is available during the Fall & Spring semesters in alignment with the university academic year and in compliance with the work study financial aid award amount. Hours - average 10 per a week, minimum of 4 with flexibility; work weeks may vary.
