    When you join our team as a Woodlands Superintendent ,reporting to the Woodlands Manager, you will be responsible for planning and supervision of road construction, road maintenance, harvesting, and log hauling operations in various locations across Northeast Ontario. Please note this role can be based out of either our Timmins or Elk Lake location.

    What You'll Do

    • Support the Woodlands Managers achieve their objectives.

    • With your experience, you will mentor and lead by example a younger team of Woodlands Supervisors.

    • Coordinate and support forest operations, including road building, road maintenance, harvesting and log hauling.

    • Ensure operations are being carried out safely, legally, and efficientlyandadhering to all regulatory requirements (Annual Work Schedule, Annual Fire Plan, OH&S Act etc.)

    • Prepare and maintain short- and long-term operational plans and ensure full utilization of the forest resource to the benefit of the Company.

    • Prepare blocks for harvest (road and boundary layout, prework approval, mapping) and schedule work with respective contractors.

    • Liaise with the MNRF on day-to-day operational issues.

    • Communicate and report weekly production levels and targets.

    • Prepare incident investigations and follow up on incident report recommendations.

    • Carry out Environmental and Safety inspections and develop and follow up on action plans resulting from those inspections.

    • Support the Log Quality Program including providing measured data for quality control monitoring and contractor follow-up.

    What You Offer

    • 10+ years' experience in harvesting and road construction-related operations.

    • Education in forestry or forest management, or equivalent experience.

    • Valid Ontario Driver's license.

    • Familiar with forest harvest systems and road construction techniques, including bridge construction.

    • Working knowledge of forestry regulations (Crown Forest Sustainability Act) and OH&S Act & Regulations.

    • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook

    • Strong communication, organizational and time management skills.

    • Bilingualism in English / French is a requirement.

    • Working knowledge of ArcGIS is considered an asset

    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate and problem solve.

    • Commitment to high safety and environmental standards.

    • Good physical condition.

    • Ability to work for extended periods outdoors, in a forested environment, and in various weather and field conditions.

    • Ability to work away from home for days at a time when needed.

    • Ability to meet changing priorities in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate and problem solve.
