  • Responsibilities

    This is an opportunity for an APP to join the interdisciplinary team at the Wilmot Cancer Institute in providing care to patients with lymphoma. The team seeks a good decision-maker, with proven success at making timely decisions. This person must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced outpatient environment dealing with a wide range of diseases. Must be adept at planning and prioritizing work and communicate well in a team environment. Must be flexible in their approach and demeanor in order to align with the shifting demands of evolving circumstances. Responsibilities include evaluation and management of acute illness, chronic symptom management, acute and long-term follow-ups, coordination of services, and patient and family education. Candidate will work as a collaborative member of the APP team and provide coverage to support the needs of the group.

    This opportunity may include the development of proficiencies in procedures such as bone marrow biopsy or other procedures, along with the development of expertise in chemotherapy administration and clinical trial enrollment.

    Excellent organizational and team skills are essential. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.

    Qualifications

    Nurse Practitioner

    Require a Master's degree (or pending) as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active/pending New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current/pending national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.

    Physician Assistant

    Requires completion (or pending) of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active/pending New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current/pending national certification as a Physician Assistant by the NCCPA ( National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)

    NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relations skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
