    WELDER LEVEL 1 JOB DESCRIPTION:

    The welder Level 1 is an individual who is involved with welding metal assemblies and fabrication of contracted products. These tasks are accomplished through the use of specifications, technical drawings, and fabrication equipment, in addition to following verbal instructions or approved processes.

    RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES:
    • Set up and the operation of cutting tools, cutting torches, plasma cutters, and welding machines.
    • Conduct measurement, aligning, and fitting of parts using appropriate hand tools and welding-associated equipment.
    • Study blueprints and engineering drawings to assist with the determination of project task sequences.
    • Assemble, layout, and examine metal products or stocks to be processed to ensure that client specifications are met.
    • Study and provide written text comprehension of applicable Technical Manuals utilized in the AMP United, LLC Structural Department.
    • Be able to work at tall heights and in small working spaces in either hot or cold climates.
    • Be able to lift a minimum of 60 pounds.
    PREFERRED SKILLS:
    • Certificate(s) of completion and passing acceptable weld process course of instruction
    • Certificate(s) of ferrous or non-ferrous material(s) weld qualification from previous employer.
    • Ability to read and interpret structural blueprints and drawings.
    • Ability to draft impromptu field drawings in support of structural work items under contract.
    • Ability to identify and use the necessary tools and equipment utilized in structural fabrication processes.
    REQUIRED SKILLS:
    1. Certification of SMAW Carbon Steel Plate and GMAW (Flux Core) Carbon Steel Plate, including quarterly updates.
    2. Current certification reflecting satisfactory completion of Welder's Workmanship Training Course.
    3. Ability to read and interpret technical publications in regards to contractual welding requirements.
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Visual acuity must be either 20/20 or correctable to near distance as stipulated by use of the J-1 letters of a standard Jaeger Chart or equivalent.
