    We are recruiting for a Junior Weld Engineering - Intermediate position for our facility in Cambridge, Ontario.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Weld Engineering - Junior will help to refine welding manufacturing procedures. This position will assist in preparing and maintaining shop documentation conforming to quality system requirements and assess and help to resolve non-conforming conductions that affect the product. The Weld Engineer will support shop activities and ensure safe work through the maintenance, upgrading or installation of equipment and facilities and design tooling, as required. The focus of this position is on welding processes, welder training and welding equipment.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    Shop Documentation

    • Assist in preparing welding Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) and Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS).

    • Help to identify shop resources and fixtures/jigs/tooling required for the scope of work.

    • Help to provide material allocation and identification of applicable shop operating procedures and quality assurance standards.

    Non-Conforming Products

    • Resolve non-conforming conditions identified by Quality Control, under supervision.

    • Assess each case relative to control drawings, specifications, customer expectations and quality standards, produce supplementary documents (i.e. work orders, repair plans

    condition reports, etc), under supervision.

    • Liaise with appropriate personnel (i.e. sales personnel, suppliers, etc.) to arrive at technically sound and commercially viable resolutions.

    Shop Procedures

    • Assist in the development and support of shop procedures for existing and new welding applications.

    Scheduling

    • Maintain realistic time standards as a target for shop performance and provide realistic durations for shop schedules, review historical data for past performance for similar parts, as well as conduct time studies.

    Database Maintenance

    • Maintain database of welding equipment, consumables and approvals as well as maintain information (i.e. pictures, sketches, and written instructions), to provide record of past practices.

    Product Reviews/Estimating

    • Under supervision, conduct pre-manufacturing product reviews, identify tooling and fixtures needed to support the work to ensure shop is adequately equipped to perform job.

    • Help to make adjustments to design or concept sketches for needed tools, procurement of items, etc. as required.

    Tooling/Equipment

    • Help to design and draft tooling as required to support shop welding activities.

    • This may include design analysis for strength using classical or Finite Element tools.

    • Assist with procurement of new equipment from vendors.

    • At the junior level, it is expected that you will take on projects of limited size and complexity independently and larger projects with guidance. Your work may be assigned and will reviewed by upper-level professionals. You will improve existing processes with refinements.

    KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

    -Normally Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or in an appropriate discipline.

    • No experience is necessary. New Graduates or Recent graduate with less than 2 years of experience, preferred. Previous experience related to field or office engineering is desired.

    • Knowledge of:

    • Basic drafting principles and practices, principles of trigonometry, geometry and algebra, (CAD/Solidworks experience an asset)

    • English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation,

    • Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment.

    Abiltiy to

    • Keep and maintain accurate records.

    • Learn to write legal descriptions.

    • Learn details of Codes and Standards governing products.

    • Perform arithmetical computations accurately.

    • Learn to make accurate engineering computations.

    • Learn to prepare maps, drawings and layouts.

    • Learn to perform a variety of technical office and field engineering work.

    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during the course of work.

    • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

    The base salary range for this position in [[Ontario]] at the start of employment is expected to be between $[[59,000]] and $[[86,000]] per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
