    Stantec's Water practice has an opportunity for a Civil Engineer with Water Resources experience to join our team in Blue Ash, OH.     The role of a Civil engineer is to work independently on smaller projects and as a team member of larger projects. You should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products for a project. A Civil engineer will perform a variety of complex tasks which may include calculations, fieldwork, and coordination of tasks and personnel. The projects assigned may be complex, broad, varied, and diverse in scope.

    Your Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare contract documents (i.e., plans and specifications) for a variety of projects, such as drainage plans, sanitary/storm sewers, wastewater treatment plants, roadways, erosion prevention & sediment control plans, levees, landfills, and ash pond closures

    • Prepare and revise documents in various civil phases including site plans, utility plan/profiles, grading plans, cross-sections, diagrams, and details

    • Develop grading plans, pipe alignments, and pipe profiles utilizing AutoCAD Civil3D

    • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations to support the design of stormwater drainage improvements

    • Prepare basis of design reports summarizing design criteria and calculations performed

    • Perform construction administration such as submittal reviews, responses to requests for information, and reviewing daily field reports

    • Conduct site visits during the design and construction phases

    • Provide support in permitting process of projects

    • Manage and lead other team members and delegate specific project tasks to other team members as appropriate

    • Assist senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule

    Qualifications

    Your Capabilities and Credentials

    • Has a well-developed understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of civil engineering design

    • Possesses excellent time management skills

    • Well-developed understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, as well as relevant discipline software programs, which may include AutoCAD Civil3D, PCSWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, StormCAD, or WaterCAD

    • Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation

    • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness

    • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Willing to travel on an as needed basis

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering. Masters with a focus in Water Resource Engineering preferred

    • Minimum of 2-5 years of related work experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience

    • Licensed Professional Engineer or ready to take the exam within one year

    Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Fieldwork may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
