Summary

Provide up to two (2) FTE Microbiologist II, for up to a thirty (30) month period. These positions must meet the requirements of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) 42 CFR § 493.1489 Standard; Testing personnel qualifications. These positions will perform viral pathogen testing on wastewater samples using the ThermoFisher Kingfisher Flex extraction platform and the Qiagen Qiacuity digital droplet thermocycler. This work is conducted in biosafety level 2 and 3 laboratories. All duties are conducted at the Department's Health and Environmental Testing Laboratory, located in Augusta, Maine. Hours of Operations: Monday through Friday, five (5) days a week, normal work hours such as 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Qualifications include at a minimum:

Four (4) year combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates knowledge of medical or environmental technology and/or analytical chemistry and laboratory equipment, testing, and techniques, including: i. Experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities related to:

1)PCR, real-time PCR

2) Nucleic acid extraction

3) Must meet the requirements of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) 42 CFR § 493.1489 Standard; Testing personnel qualifications.

Training, education, or experience in laboratory work that demonstrates:

1)Excellent interpersonal skills and critical thinking. 2)Excellent communication skills. 3)Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism. 4)Ability to speak, read, and write English.

5)Ability to independently follow scientific protocols.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

1)Experience in working in a Biosafety Level 3 Laboratory

Compensation for roles at Staffing Solutions Organization LLC (SSO) varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, SSO provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. In addition, SSO provides a range of benefits for this role.
