    Department Summary

    MITRE's L142, Simulation, Experimentation, and Gaming Department provides a dynamic and agile workforce to design, develop, and employ simulation and game-based solutions to address our sponsors operational, engineering, and acquisition challenges. We offer a range of services within this domain from consultation, to designing and running simulation and/or game-based experiments in close collaboration with our sponsors, to developing new tools or integrated engineering environments as part of a system, digital, or digital twin engineering environment. L142 proudly serves all of the MITRE FFRDCs and we have an active and thriving research and development program within the organization.

    Job Description

    • Lead multidisciplinary wargaming projects to include wargaming methodology definition, team selection, and execution planning, management, and product delivery

    • Work directly with sponsor senior leaders to define wargaming requirements and recommend appropriate wargaming methodology to employ (table-top, workshop, board, digitized game, and/or computer simulation environment) for the project

    • Lead the sponsor engagement across the wargaming project

    • Design and develop wargames (across the set of wargaming methodologies identified above) for tactical, operational, and strategic military and non-military (e.g., diplomatic, information, economic, disaster response, etc.)) domains based on sponsor requirements

    • Lead, conduct, and participate in pre-exercise, execution, and post-execution activities for wargaming methodologies specified above

    Basic Qualifications

    • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or 7 years and a master's degree; or a PhD with 4 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering, social science, or related technical field such as statistics, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, computer science, or related STEM program.

    • 5 years of experience working in government or industry in relevant work areas including: game design / development, web or computer-based game, or simulation development

    • Active TS/SCI clearance

    • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to succinctly capture salient issues and provide seniors with fact-based, actionable and relevant technical solutions and recommendations.

    • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's or PhD in engineering, social science, or related technical field such as statistics, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, computer science, or related STEM program.

    • Experience with two or more following roles: Game Director, Game Designer, Game Developer, Game Tool Developer, Game Analyst

    • 10+ years relevant work experience supporting government customers

    • Active TS/SCI clearance

    • Preferred experience with three or more following roles: Game Director, Game Designer, Game Developer, Game Tool Developer, Game Analyst

    • Military Wargaming Certification
