    The Enterprise Risk Management group within the Global Risk and Compliance (GRC) organization is responsible for identifying and handling risks across all processes at Amex Bank of Canada (ABC). This is an oversight and governance group representing the 2 nd Line of Defense.

    The VP, Enterprise Risk Management and Chief Risk Officer (CRO) for ABC will report to the CEO of ABC and to a member of management of the shareholder of ABC. The CRO also has a reporting line for functional purposes to the Risk Review Committee ("RRC") of the Board. The CRO has overall responsibility for the oversight of the Bank's Enterprise Risks contained within the Bank's Risk Universe including Credit Risk, Operational Risk, Asset and Liability Management ("ALM") Risks and Liquidity & Funding Risks, acting within the authority delegated by the CEO, and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations (OSFI guidelines, FCAC expectations and the Bank Act).

    The incumbent will contribute to the efficiency of the enterprise risk management team by leading the design and execution of projects locally, and by creating synergies across peer groups in similar international and global roles.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Establish an enterprise risk management framework to identify, measure, monitor and report on the risks of the Bank on an enterprise-wide and disaggregated level, independently of the business lines or operational management.

    • Promote a risk culture that stresses integrity and effective risk management.

    • Support the development and ongoing review of the Bank's Risk Appetite Framework that considers the Bank's risk profile.

    • Develop risk tolerance limits for Senior Management review (as defined by the Bank's Board of Directors ("Board")), and review and ensure adherence to the established risk escalation guidelines.

    • Supervise and report on the Bank's risk profile relative to the risk appetite, initiating appropriate actions to ensure adherence to the approved risk appetite.

    • Establish processes and controls to assess the accuracy of any risk information or analysis provided by business lines to provide objective reporting to the Board, the Risk Committee and Senior Management

    • Review and approve all risk management related policy exceptions.

    • Follow up on actions taken by Senior Management in response to identified issues and related recommendations.

    • Review and approve the Risk Assessment for New Products and other Strategic Initiatives to ensure adherence with the established risk appetite.

    • Lead the bank's enterprise-wide stress testing activities and ensure the comprehensiveness and robustness of the Bank's Stress Testing program.

    • Provide oversight of risk management activities and core risk controls across the Bank

    • Review reports from management regarding compliance with the applicable consumer provisions of the Bank Act, the Financial Consumer Protection Framework (including but not limited to enhanced disclosures, complaints handling and sales practices), and relevant Codes of Conduct and Public Commitments.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Experience and Background:

    • Degree in math/ business/ statistics / economics/ engineering or other quantitative field or combination of education and experience in quantitative analysis and other relevant business areas. Professional certifications in risk management such as FRM, CFA etc. will be helpful.

    • At least 10 years of leadership experience in Enterprise Risk Management function for a Canadian Banking Institution

    • Prior experience of regulatory interactions to present risk management and related governance matters.

    • Strong business acumen with a risk-reward control perspective

    • Familiarity with local regulatory requirements such as the Canada Bank Act as well as OSFI/FCAC guidelines

    • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple priorities under pressure.

    • Self-confident with a keen sense of integrity and the ability and willingness to challenge and be challenged.

    • Comprehensive understanding of the Canadian regulatory environment.

    • Experience of working with OSFI.
