    VCA Mueller Pet Medical Center is seeking a full time Licensed Veterinary Technician to join and lead as a Technician Supervisor. We are a well-established, AAHA-accredited, 24-hour emergency & general practice in Sacramento, California.     As a member of the VCA team, you will support Technician and Doctor Teams by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients. Your mission will be to win the confidence of every pet parent-by delivering an outstanding client experience-so we can provide exceptional care to every patient. You've worked hard for your credentials (CVT, RVT, LVT) and we want you to use the knowledge that you've invested your time and talent in. The skills that you will be utilizing include, but are not limited to:

    • Emergency and critical care including CPR, wireless telemetry, therapeutic laser, NG tube placement and care

    • High standard hospital care within our ICU and ICW wards

    • Surgical preparation, anesthesia monitoring, use of anesthetic ventilators and patient recovery

    • Radiology with hands free standards in place

    • In house Chemistry, CBC, coagulation and blood gas analysis

    • Venipuncture, Catheter placement, advanced catheters such as PICC lines and Central lines, NG tube placement and care

    • Expansive Pharmacy

    • Compassionate care of every patient who walks through our door

    In the supervisor role, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

    • Directing work flow on the floor in the trenches with the team

    • Assists in the educational development of technicians and their skills

    • Assists in staffing and coverage where needed

    • Assists in basic protocol and standard procedure training

    • Provide opportunities for staff to gain more firsthand experience

    • Mentoring technicians within the departments

    • Working with department doctors to develop protocols to improve the service

    • Ensure that VCA polices, guidelines, and recommendations are implemented by all members of the technical staff

    • Analysis of schedule dynamics

    • Bringing your ideas to the table and being heard

    The Ideal Candidate

    • Excellent knowledge of client service and veterinary operations

    • Strong organizational, client relations and interpersonal skills

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    • Self-starter and team player with strong Supervisory skills

    • RVT license, VTS a plus, preferred with 5 years of technical and/or supervisory experience

    • Excellent communication and organizational skills are required coupled with the ability to deliver exceptional client service

    • Passionate for providing the highest quality patient care

    • Ability to work in a highly collaborative fast paced environment

    • A strong work ethic with the ability to work a flexible schedule including some weekends but we also offer an alternative workweek

    • Positive and professional attitude is a must!

    The salary range for this position is $28 - $32 / hour
