    PeaceHealth is seeking a Ultrasound Sonographer Lead for a Part Time, 0.80 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $48.60 - $72.96. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

    This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

    Job Summary

    Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day functions for assigned area. Assists with ensuring that departmental goals are achieved, timelines met, and service excellence provided in all aspects of work. Subject matter expert.Uses independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in performing diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasound equipment in various modes and techniques to locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data. Responsible for initial assessments, summarizing diagnostic data, and communicating this information with diagnostic images to the interpreting physician.

    Essential Functions

    • Assign work; plan and manage priorities, provide technical assistance, oversee staff schedules, monitor quality of work, monitor team projects, mentor staff, provide constructive feedback, oversee staff training, ensure quality improvement, provide leadership feedback on staff performance, and assist with goal setting for the team.

    • Performs most appropriate examination based on patient information through consultation with interpreting physician and/or ordering physician as necessary.

    • Records test results, prepares accurate preliminary reports with information appropriate to their scope of practice and updates patient records for interpreting physician.

    • Organizes daily work schedule and performs related clerical duties as required. May schedule and coordinate tests and prepare and maintain operational logs.

    • Maintains and calibrates equipment and order necessary supplies.

    • Prepares, supplies, and equips exam rooms to meet the needs of requested examinations and to meet specific physician requirements for procedures.

    • Uses independent judgment during exam to differentiate, within the scope of their licensure, between normal and pathological findings.

    • Integrates previous imaging studies, laboratory results, patient history and medical records to optimize exam.

    • Tailors exam to individual patient and utilizes the most appropriate equipment settings to provide most diagnostic information for interpretation.

    • Performs other duties as assigned consistent with caregiver's scope of practice, training, experience, and licensure/registration/certification.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • Accredited School Required: Ultrasound Sonography. or equivalent education and/or experience as required for obtaining certification/license/registration as required by the national registry through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and

    • Bachelor's Degree Preferred: Ultrasound Technology.

    Experience

    • Minimum of 1 year Required: Diagnostic ultrasound experience in a hospital facility and

    • Preferred: ImageCast/CareCast experience and

    • Required: PACS/RIS knowledge and

    • Preferred: Previous leadership experience

    Credentials

    • Required within 1 Year: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer and

    • Required: Current certification/registration/licensure as required by the State for trained modality and

    • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support

    Skills

    • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient's needs. (Required)

    • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and display flexibility in a fast paced and changing work environment. (Required)

    • Basic computer and keyboarding skills required including MS Office applications. (Required)

    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. (Required)

    Working Conditions

    Lifting

    • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).

    • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.

    • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment.

    • Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 30 lbs.

    • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 13 lbs. force. Occasionally up to 30 lbs. force.

    • Reaching frequently.

    Environmental Conditions

    • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.

    Mental/Visual

    • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

    • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
