    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Trauma Registrar/Performance Improvement (PI) Nurse Coordinator, as a member of the Trauma Department, will be responsible for the overall coordination and facilitation of performance improvement data collection, analysis, trending and benchmarking of data and outcomes. The Trauma Registrar/PI RN coordinator will be responsible for all components of Trauma Registry operations including: data collection, data entry and retrieval, data quality and integrity. The Trauma Registrar/PI Coordinator will collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, consultants and multidisciplinary trauma team members to assure quality patient outcomes across the continuum of care as well as collaborates closely with Trauma Program leadership to assure compliance with Trauma standards and guidelines.

    What the Trauma Program Registrar / Process Improvement Registered Nurse will need:

    • Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Michigan

    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

    • Five years of recent nursing experience in surgical care, critical care, and or emergency department pertaining to trauma care.

    • Computer and internet skills and experience including comfort with Windows, MS Office environment and other software application.

    • EMR experience - EPIC preferred.

    • TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum) preferred, PALS, ENPC, ATCN preferred

    • Previous experience with data abstraction from medical records and or analyzing and interpreting process of care and clinical outcomes preferred.

    • Previous experience with quality review and performance improvement initiatives preferred.

    What the Trauma Program Registrar / Process Improvement Registered Nurse will do:

    • Accurately abstract and enter trauma data for all applicable patients in the trauma registry.

    • Ensure compliance with trauma registry data dictionary standards, submitting data within required deadlines.

    • Perform routine data audits and quality checks to maintain data accuracy.

    • Collaborate with the registry team to correct discrepancies in trauma data and ensure regulatory compliance.

    • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.

    • Identifies quality opportunities makes recommendations regarding data inclusion and findings, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals

    • Performs primary review on all defined trauma patients for performance improvement tracking across the continuum of care.

    • Prepares and presents select cases for secondary review clearly and concisely with all relevant clinical information highlighted and identifies all opportunities for improvement.
