  • Traffic Signal Technician III

    This position is responsible for performing technical work in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signal systems. Performance of a variety of specialized tasks include setting up controllers, time clocks, microwave detectors, emergency vehicle detectors, and other traffic signal equipment. Fill in for emergency call duties are required.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    • Must be 18 years-of-age or older.

    • Must be fully experienced in programming and troubleshooting all aspects of intersections with multiple phases, to include troubleshooting of pedestrian audible buttons, and multiple vehicle detection systems, BIUs, conflict monitors, controllers, and coordination.

    • Responds to various trouble calls for damaged equipment, problematic components, or malfunctioning signal equipment

    • Performs stand-by or "On Call" duty for after hour response within 2 hours of call out; handles emergency situations on a rotating schedule

    • Understands simple engineering drawings, schematics, and diagrams.

    • Installs, renovates, and repairs traffic signal control devices, networks and electronic and electrical components.

    • Operates a computer with general proficiency.

    • Keeps track of field conditions and installation activities.

    • Mentors/trains less experienced technicians.

    Education & Experience

    • 2-5 years of Traffic Signal Technician experience preferred.

    • Level 3 IMSA Technician Certification required.

    • Traffic Control Supervisor Certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire date.

    Pre-Screen

    • Upon offer, employees may be required to subject and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background and/or MVR check.

    License & Certifications:

    • Driver's License required.

    • OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): sitting, kneeling, crawling, climbing ladders, climbing stairs.

    • FREQUENT (up to 66%): stooping, squatting, body-twisting, manual dexterity, climbing on/off truck, gripping, reading.

    • CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): standing, walking, sense of touch, speaking clearly, seeing distant, lifting over 10 lbs to 50 lbs., seeing, reaching, range of motion, hearing-speech range, depth perception, color vision, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, lifting up to 10 lbs., lifting up to 50 lbs.
