Description
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Rochester (URMC) School of Medicine & Dentistry, in Rochester, NY, is currently recruiting an additional fellowship trained Thoracic pathologist. An opportunity to assist with cardiac (transplant), autopsy or cytopathology coverage is available for interested/qualified candidates. The thoracic service consists of neoplastic (primarily), non-neoplastic diseases (non-transplant) and cases reviewed for consultation. Thoracic multidisciplinary tumor board occurs weekly. Successful applicants must be board-eligible in anatomic pathology by the American Board of Pathology and be eligible for a medical license in the State of New York.
The Department provides a very wide range of services, currently accessioning over 100,000 surgical/biopsy cases per year. More than 35 anatomic pathologists participate in a fully subspecialized sign out model.
The successful applicant will be expected to participate in a program in applied, translational, or basic research. The Medical Center has a highly collegial environment. There are multiple opportunities for collaborative research and for the development of clinical initiatives through interactions with Medical Center faculty.
Opportunities for teaching are ample: we have ACGME-accredited fellowships in cytology, pediatric pathology, dermatopathology, and forensic pathology; and non-ACGME-accredited subspecialty fellowship positions in surgical pathology, as well rotating pathology residents and medical students.

Qualifications
Candidates must have completed medical school having an MD, MD-PhD, or equivalent as well as a Thoracic Pathology Fellowship Program and be board certified/eligible for NYS license. Candidates would join the faculty at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, commensurate with the candidate's experience.

The referenced pay range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job's salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
