    Job Description: Stage Combat Student Assistant

    Seeking a motivated student to assist in a stage combat class. Responsibilities include supporting instruction, demonstrating techniques, and ensuring student safety. Ideal candidates possess experiential knowledge of stage violence, intimacy and consent training, strong communication skills, a passion for performance, physical fitness, strong partnering skills, patience, and a collaborative spirit.

    Job Location/ Hours Required:

    The candidate will perform most/all job duties in (Theater Classroom TBA). Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires up to (10) hours per week.

    Responsibilities
    • Supporting the Professor
      Assisting in the demonstration and choreography of fight sequences, both unarmed and single sword.

    • Safety Oversight
      Leading Warm-ups/Conditioning Drills as well as ensuring all weapons and props are in good condition and addressing any safety concerns.

    • Choreography Build and Documentation
      Creating and Recording fight choreography for the class.

    • Working one on one with the professor to create repeatable techniques and choreography for the class.
    Required Qualifications:
    • Must have at least 30 hours of prior Stage Combat experience in unarmed or single sword or equivalent.
    Recommended Qualifications
    • Actor/Combatant Certification through SAFD (or equivalent) in any weapon; unarmed and/or single sword or rapier & dagger preferred.
    Desired Skills:
    • Knowledge and Ability to perform Stage Combat techniques precisely and safely.
    • Knowledge of proper stage combat terminology and demonstrable application.
    • Ability to create and retain detailed and specific choreography for stage violence storytelling.
