Position Summary
We are looking for a Territory Manager to cover the Greater Toronto and Ontario East regions (main cities: Toronto, Oshawa, Kingston, Peterborough, Cornwall and Ottawa) reporting into the National Sales Manager on the Nestlé Purina PetCare side of our business. This position is ideal for a high-energy, self-motivated professional who is looking for an opportunity to further develop a dynamic sales career focused on Pet Nutrition.
A day in the life of a Territory Manager
As a Territory Manager, you will be responsible to achieve sales targets by promoting Purina products in a professional, effective manner while maintaining awareness of the competitive products and marketplace activities. You will be calling on Specialty Pet Stores and stimulating recommendations of Purina products as well as managing sales to a select group of customers.
You will also:
Develop territory level business plans that align with the overall regional business plans and commercial strategy with information and direction provided by your National Sales Manager
Effectively execute programs as defined by the business
Develop new sales opportunities by developing deep understanding of customer needs within each channel as well as prospect and build relationships with target Professionals and Key Opinion Leaders within the Specialty Pet Channel.
Build key customer relationships that will enable Nestlé Purina to meet strategic sales growth and liaise with key customers in order to keep Nestlé apprised of latest nutrition research, trends and competitive activity, as well as to promote Purina as a Leader in Pet Nutrition.
Maintain a customer database to record customer information, call activity, action, follow-ups, results and transmit information for review, verification and analysis
Report to the National Manager on your own field activity and that of the competition and provide feedback and status on promotions for building pre and post evaluations.
Perform coverage based on established call frequency and cycle.
Manage territory expenses within company guidelines.
What will make you successful?
2+ years of sales experience as a sales representative within CPG Consumer packaged goods industry
Understanding of the retail store environment and experience in the Pet food industry an asset
Valid full driver's license and safe driving record is required
Travel required 25% within the assigned territory GTA area and Eastern part of Ontario Main Cities: Toronto, Oshawa, Kingston, Peterborough, Cornwall and Ottawa
Post Secondary education in Business, Sales, or Marketing
Have proven experience using MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and a good understanding of network applications related to Sales Information
Excellent leadership abilities, fostering collaboration and strong interpersonal skills
Outstanding organizational skills, effective time management, exceptional prioritization abilities, proficient in project management, with a keen eye for detail
