The Department of Chemistry and the National Cancer Institute-designated University of Virginia Comprehensive Cancer Center invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the field of drug discovery with a focus on small molecule approaches to treat cancer-relevant targets. The position is part of the UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center investment in drug discovery as well as a component of the University's new Grand Challenge Research Initiatives focus on Precision Medicine.
The new faculty member will join a vibrant, interdisciplinary research community in the Department of Chemistry and be an important member of the UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center. We offer a collegial and supportive environment with a strong record of supporting, mentoring, and championing new and junior faculty. The Chemistry Department and the Cancer Center offer many opportunities for collaboration within and between the School of Arts & Sciences and the School of Medicine. Primary appointment will be in the Department of Chemistry with joint appointments in the School of Medicine possible.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field at the time of appointment, a strong record of innovative research, and a commitment to high-quality teaching and mentoring of students from a diversity of backgrounds at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
