Residential and Commercial Service Technician

Position Overview:
The Residential and Commercial Service Technician plays a crucial role in safeguarding properties and ensuring the safety of occupants by installing, maintaining, and servicing alarm systems. This position requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and customer service abilities to deliver high-quality security solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repair
- Perform routine maintenance checks on alarm systems to ensure they are functioning correctly.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with alarm systems, including wiring problems, sensor malfunctions, and communication errors.
- Repair or replace faulty components as needed to restore system functionality.
System Upgrades and Expansion
- Assess client needs and recommend upgrades or expansions to existing alarm systems to enhance security capabilities.
- Install additional sensors, cameras, or other devices to meet client requirements.
- Integrate new components with existing alarm systems to ensure seamless operation.
Customer Service
- Communicate with customers to understand their security needs and preferences.
- Provide guidance and instruction to customers on how to use and maintain their alarm systems effectively.
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, and service requests promptly and professionally.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of all installations, maintenance activities, and repairs performed.
- Generate service reports detailing work completed, parts used, and any recommendations for further action.
- Coordinate with management to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees, customers, and vendors.
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Ability to pass drug screening and background requirements.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Three years of related experience or comparable training preferred.
- Driver’s license and a driving record that meets insurance requirements.
- PC and network knowledge and experience.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Detail-oriented.
Physical Requirements
- Physically able to inspect buildings by climbing ladders, accessing attics or crawl spaces, kneeling, and crawling.
- Physically able to install, test, and/or repair security materials.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Job Type
- Full Time, non-exempt.
- A company vehicle is provided for all Technicians.
- Shifts: Monday – Friday, with occasional Saturdays.
- On-call and overtime required.
