    KBR is seeking a talented Technical Writer 1 to join our team in Lexington Park, Maryland . In this pivotal role, you will specialize in crafting, refining, and perfecting proposals, manuals, and technical documentation crucial to the operation and maintenance of sophisticated machinery and equipment.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Revises or writes standardized material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment.

    • Receives technical direction from supervisor or test engineer, notes or manuals containing operating procedures and details manufacturer's catalogs, drawings and other data relative to E3 test and evaluation policy and procedures.

    • Organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology, may maintain records and files of work and revisions, select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material, assist in laying out material for publication arrange for typing, duplication and distribution of material; may assist in writing speeches, articles, and public or employee relations releases, and may specialize in writing material regarding E3 work methods and procedures.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    Clearance & Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required. Must have an active DOD Secret clearance.

    Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED with at least 2 years of experience in technical writing.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience working as a technical writer or proposal writer in the defense industry, preferably with direct involvement in DoD contracts and proposals.

    • Experience with desktop publishing tools and graphics software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Illustrator) for creating visually appealing proposals and technical documentation.?

    • Knowlegde of DoD Military standard formats & practices.

    This is an SCA position.

    Compensation: $28.69/HR. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

    Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
