Job Title: Tax ExpertJob Description
Provide 1-1 tax guidance to clients as they prepare and submit personal tax returns through our tax software. Review returns prior to submission and research complex tax scenarios, offering opinions based on the CRA Tax Code to maximize the client's tax return. Answer various tax-related questions to ensure accurate and impactful information is being provided by the client. Share tax knowledge with your team of tax professionals by being a point of contact for tax questions, clarifications, or complex tax scenarios. Provide confidence-inspiring 1-1 service primarily online using collaboration software. Follow-up email support is also required. Assist with Audit Protection tickets as needed. Capture and share insights to improve the end-to-end client experience.
Responsibilities
Provide 1-1 tax guidance to clients during the preparation and submission of personal tax returns.
Review tax returns prior to submission.
Research complex tax scenarios and offer opinions based on the CRA Tax Code.
Answer various tax-related questions to ensure accurate and impactful information is being provided.
Share tax knowledge with your team by being a point of contact for tax questions, clarifications, or complex scenarios.
Provide online 1-1 service using collaboration software and follow-up email support.
Assist with Audit Protection tickets as needed.
Capture and share insights to improve the end-to-end client experience.
Essential Skills
3+ years of professional tax preparation experience.
Preparation of 75+ Canadian T1 personal tax returns per tax year for the past 3 years.
Experience with tax returns that include self-employment income, rental income, investments, cryptocurrency, and foreign income (T1135).
Excellent communication skills.
Proficiency in personal tax software (WS Tax, TurboTax, Ufile, etc.), Quickbooks, CRA Tax Code, Profile, CCH.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience handling RRSP over-contribution reporting.
Prior experience with GST/HST returns.
Deep understanding of Canadian taxes and the ability to explain tax concepts simply.
Regularly researches tax rules and regulations to provide accurate advice.
Technically savvy with the ability to use collaboration software (Google Meet, Zoom, etc.).
Ability to manage a daily schedule of appointments and navigate multiple online applications simultaneously.
Work Environment
This is a remote position, open to candidates anywhere in Canada. Standard working hours are 9-5 PM with some flexibility on start times. Overtime will be required during busy periods (March-April). This is a contract position from January 20th to May 16th.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $29.00
