This individual will play a pivotal role in developing innovative and effective solutions for our DoD customers within the IC sector.


    Role Overview

    The Systems Engineer-Expert / Senior ISSE serves as a security Subject Matter Expert (SME), supporting the Development, Engineering, and Operations infrastructure solutions. This role ensures strategic adherence to all aspects of the Information Assurance (IA) program in compliance with U.S. Government requirements, including Director of Central Intelligence Directives (DCID), IC Directive (ICD) 503, and NIST publications. The individual will provide critical expertise in risk assessment, system accreditation, and vulnerability remediation to enhance mission success.


    Primary Duties
    • Prepare security test and evaluation plans.
    • Provide certification and accreditation support, including developing security and contingency plans and conducting risk and vulnerability assessments.
    • Analyze policies and procedures against Federal laws and regulations, providing recommendations for closing gaps.
    • Recommend and implement system enhancements to improve security deficiencies.
    • Develop, test, and integrate computer and network security tools.
    • Secure system configurations, install security tools, and perform compliance scans while reporting results.
    • Evaluate products and address system administration aspects.
    • Conduct security program audits and develop solutions to mitigate identified risks.
    • Provide information assurance support for security architecture development and implementation to meet evolving security requirements.
    • Perform vulnerability assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies.
    • Prepare and manage system Assessment and Authorization (A&A) documents and procedures.
    • Interface with IA team members, other security disciplines (industrial, physical, special programs security, etc.), program personnel, and Government representatives.
    • Manage systems through the full lifecycle of the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
    • Initiate and analyze vulnerability and compliance scans.
    • Oversee risk/threat mitigation and remediation efforts.
    • Tailor A&A documentation for unique environments and requirements.
    • Work through POAMs with Developers, Engineers, and cross-functional teams.
    • Conduct system continuous monitoring.
    • Utilize Splunk, Rapid7, and other monitoring and auditing systems/software.
    • Perform various roles and responsibilities in cloud computing environments.
    • Ensure the development, maintenance, review, and continuous update of system security documentation.
    • Proactively identify and address potential risks.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Clearance: TS/SCI with Polygraph.
    • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience, Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience, or PhD with 3+ years of experience; an additional four years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
    • Deep knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF), Assessment and Authorization (A&A) processes, and related policies.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Familiarity with cloud computing and associated security concepts.
    • Working knowledge of digital communications and IT communications technologies.
    • Direct experience with patch management, continuous monitoring, and vulnerability scanning/remediation activities.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience with Splunk, Rapid7, and similar tools.
    • Proactive and forward-leaning approach to problem-solving and risk mitigation.
