    PeaceHealth is seeking a Supervisor Surgical Technician for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Variable position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $42.23 - $63.35. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

    The position is responsible for providing managerial assistance to the Nurse Manager. This position is directly accountable to the Nurse Manager and is responsible for support in the following areas, hiring; staffing and scheduling; orientation; performance assessment; budget monitoring; maintaining and establishing patient care standards; compliance with policies and procedures.

    Details of the position

    • Demonstrates compassion, respect and care while working within the scope of Certified Surgical Technologist practice to provide individualized, safe and efficient care to patients and assistance to their families and visitors. Proactively implements measures to promote a safety climate on the unit, considering the inter-relationship of people, tools, and environment.

    • Provides leadership, management, and communication skills to department.

    • Develops staffing schedules and unit assignments based on patient needs, caregivers' skills/abilities, department resources and operational requirements.

    • Collaborates with Nurse Manager in planning, recommendation, and implementation of clinical service delivery. Recommends policy changes which enhance technicians' ability to achieve top quartile performance.

    • Participates in coaching, documentation of personnel actions and monitoring the performance of all direct reports to develop and maintain a high performing team that meets organizational and department goals.

    • Collaborates with Nurse Manager with the evaluation of work performance and performance assessments.

    • Promotes, establishes and maintains open communication.

    • Collaborates with Nurse Manager on budget monitoring.

    • Collaborates with supervision and direction of the department clinical educator.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    What you bring

    • Accredited School Required: Certified Surgical Technologist.

    • Minimum of 3 years Required: Experience as a surgical technologist in a full-service operating room

    • 2 years Preferred: Supervisory/leadership experience in health care organization

    • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support

    • Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist

    Department / Location Specific Notes

    OREGON

    Must meet the following

    • Completion of an educational program for surgical technologists accredited by a national accreditation organization approved by the Oregon Health Authority AND

    • Holds and maintains a surgical technologist certification issued by a nationally accredited certifying organization for surgical technologists.

    • In lieu of above, must have completed a US Military Surgical Technologist Training Program and must complete 16 hours of continuing education every two years.

    • For those who have practiced surgical technology in a health care facility in Oregon or another state or as an employee of an agency or institution of the federal government for at least two of the three years prior to January 1, 2017, certification is not required but caregiver must complete 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
