    The YK Fitness Center in Bethel, AK has a great opportunity for a full time (30 or 40 hours per week), benefits eligible, Supervisor on Duty. In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide the Community of Bethel with opportunities for fitness, wellness, and recreation by helping keep our facility running smoothly and safely. This position assists and supervises Lifeguard staff and must be able to become Lifeguard certified within 30 days of hire (training provided on site, swim test may be included in interview process).

    Schedule: Evening and weekend position

    Regular schedule Saturday - Wednesdays 1:30pm-9:30pm for 40 hour position, Sunday-Wed 1:30pm-9:30pm for 30 hour position

    In this position, you'll help manage the facility alongside our Management Team. At times, you will serve as the acting manager and will be responsible for the operations of the facility in its entirety including shift accountability

    Responsibilities include:

    • Helps with all member service desk administration and processes including phones and membership enrollments, greeting, checking in, and assisting customers.

    • Provides program information services and membership information.

    • Providing backup coverage for all positions, including Lifeguard (requires Lifeguard Certification)

    • Hourly facility walk-thru rounds to assess safety and cleanliness. Periodic inventory checks of recreation, concessions, and proshop equipment and merchandise.

    • Efficiently responds to client and participant requests, comments, or concerns and brings issues to a timely and appropriate resolution. In an emergency situation will lead/manage incidents and complete incident reports as needed.

    • Maintains and updates participant and facility policies as appropriate. Role Models and Educates participants on policies and procedures.

    • Opening and closing duties depending on shift hours.

    • Oversight of Front Desk including assuring accurate and efficient operations of Point-of-Sale System, membership management, administration of patron accounts and programs.

    • Participates in internal programs, special events, and membership drives. Collects membership fees and performs related recordkeeping.

    • Inventory, resupply, and marketing of Concessions and Pro Shop

    • Other duties as needed/assigned

    Minimum requirements:

    • Must be at least 18 years old

    • High school diploma or GED and 1+ years of in-person customer service experience.

    • ARC Lifeguard certified or possesses swim skills and the ability to pass Lifeguard certification course within 30 days of hire.

    • Experience with facility operations and staff supervision ideally in a fitness and/or aquatic facility.

    • Hands on experience with preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of basic facility equipment, fitness equipment, and/or pool equipment.

    • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.

    • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

    • Basic computer and point of sale systems knowledge. Ability to quickly learn new programs/software.

    • Positive attitude and a desire and ability to positively engage diverse range of patrons and staff.

    Preferred Qualities:

    • Pool Operators Certification through recognized industry training program.

    • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.

    • 2+ years related industry experience with at least 1-year supervisory experience.
