    Description:

    Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center - Hartford CT $8,000 Sign-on Bonus

    Trinity Health Of New England is looking for an experienced Laboratory Supervisor (Blood Bank) to join our team of mission-driven healthcare innovators located on our Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center location.

    You will be responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Clinical Laboratory and assigned team to ensure uninterrupted workflow, availability of appropriate and timely testing, accurate results, and customer satisfaction.

    What You Will Do:

    You Will Be Responsible For:

    • Implements work procedures and monitors activities to ensure a safe environment for employees.

    • Collaborates with Site Manager in hiring, training, developing, evaluating, and when necessary, disciplining staff to build a team and ensure high quality service.

    • Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with administrators, colleagues and physicians.

    • Conducts staff meetings and continuing education/training sessions to educate staff, resolve problems, establish service improvement processes and communicate procedural changes .

    • Responsible for creating and maintaining the section's technical competency program, staff training and continuing education

    • Functions as a technical consultant to staff and physicians. Responsible for technical problem resolution related to assigned section. Servesas a subject matter expert in areas under direct supervision.

    • Assists with LIS changes including design, analysis, testing, validation, implementation and training. Develops and implements new procedures/policies. Reviews/revises approved section procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.

    • Recommends and implements system changes to increase efficiency and accuracy of workflow.

    • Understanding in the operation/maintenance of Lab equipment, computer-based applications (email, and standard applications such as Microsoft Office).

    • Demonstrates problem solving, conflict resolution, and positive communication through teamwork.

    • Promotes teamwork among staff members, fosters positive employee morale, and ensures compliance with hospital and regulatory requirements.

    Hours:

    Full-time, 40 hrs, Day Shift - flexibility when needed

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Requires a minimum formal education of Bachelor's degree

    • Minimum of six (6) years job-related experience. Prior supervisory experience highly desired. Blood Bank experience. Knowledge of instrument troubleshooting (experience).

    • Requires Medical Technologist, ASCP (or equivalent).

    • Demonstrates attention to detail, effective communication and teamwork skills. Strong written and verbal skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

    • Must be able to set and organize own work priorities and adapt to them as they change frequently. Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles. Must possess the ability to comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures. Proven leadership, interpersonal skills and technical knowledge; strong organizational skills.
