    Description

    The Emory Eye Center is excited offer a summer research and mentorship program for underrepresented minorities interested in the field of ophthalmology. Students will be exposed to clinical ophthalmology through shadowing opportunities at Grady Eye Clinic. Additionally, students will be introduced to vision research through mentorship and hands-on experience with our Emory Eye Center research faculty. Participants will be required to attend basic science and clinical research weekly lab meetings and present at journal clubs. Other responsibilities include attending grand rounds and department conferences. Our goal is to provide comprehensive exposure to the field of ophthalmology, engage through mentorship, cultivate curiosity and discovery through vision research, and provide networking opportunities for students.

    Who Should Apply?

    • Students interested in the field of ophthalmology

    • Underrepresented minorities

    • Upper-level college (junior and senior) or medical student between 1st and 2nd year

    • 8-10 week break with a commitment of 40 hours/week
