    BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: In the absence of a Teacher or Support Staff, follow regular lesson plans to ensure consistency and instruction continues without interruption.

    ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
    • High School Diploma and/or GED
    • Texas Certified or college degree preferred
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
    • Ability to work well with children and adults
    • Ability to communicate verbally and written effectively
    • Background working with children in educational setting, preferred

    Instructional and Student Support:
    • Follow teacher plans and present information and instruction to help students learn the subject matter and skills.
    • Maintain instruction that is compatible with the school and system-wide curriculum goals.
    • Interact effectively with students, parents, and staff.
    • Adhere to established laws, policies, rules, and regulations as presented in the Substitute Handbook and online
    • District policies.
    SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Provide guidance and direction as assigned.

    MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
    • Tools/Equipment Used
      Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; [P.E. teachers: automated external defibrillator (AED)]

    • Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
    • Motion: Frequent walking
    • Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment.
    • Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise
    • Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
