Substation Engineer

Actalent is seeking a Substation Engineer to design equipment and layouts, primarily supporting 12-69kV projects for the military or utility sectors. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of equipment and electrical interconnects, transformers, short circuit studies, breakers, and equipment layout. Familiarity with SDG&E or SCE standards and procedures is a plus. Candidate will support projects by preparing reports that present technical and project information clearly and concisely to meet client requirements.

This opportunity is to join an engineering firm in the San Diego area working in office Monday- Thursday and working from home on Friday's.

Responsibilities

• Engineer medium and high voltage substation projects from conceptual design through construction.

• Prepare electrical physical design packages, including One-line, Site Plan, Electrical Plan & Sections, Grounding Plan & Details, Conduit Plan and Details, Control House Plan, Control House Grounding Plan & Details, Lighting Plan, Lightning Protection Plan, and Bill of Materials (BOM).

• Coordinate with Designers and Engineers of other disciplines to complete deliverables.

• Interpret and incorporate vendor information into design deliverables.

• Perform QA/QC of electrical engineering design packages.

• Provide regular progress updates and reporting on project deliverables.

• Provide engineering and technical support and reviews to field crews during construction.

Requirements

• Bachelors of Electrical Engineering Degree

• Substation electrical design experience

• Knowledge of equipment and electrical interconnects, transformers, short circuit studies, breakers, & equipment layout

• Familiarity with SDG&E or SCE standards and procedures
