Overview:
Responsibilities:
Cares for patients in the hospital setting under direction of nursing staff, by performing the following duties, supporting the nursing philosophy. May include weekends, holidays, day, evening, night, and/or on-call hours. Performs other duties as assigned. This position must comply with all Department of Labor and/or State standards for child labor provisions. If this job description conflicts with the federal or state laws, the laws must be followed. When state youth employment laws differ from the federal provisions, we must comply with the higher standard.
• Partners under age 18 may not operate an electronic or air powered hoists/lifts in any setting. • Partners under age 18 may not repair, service, or disassemble the power drive machines. • Partners under age 18 may not assist with tasks being performed by the power-driven machines. • Partners under age 18 are prohibited from assisting or using power-driven hoists/lifts to elevate and transport patients. • Partners under age 18 are prohibited from using the following equipment floor-based vertical powered patient lift devices; ceiling-mounted vertical powered patient life devices; and powered sit-to-stand patient lift devices. • Partners under age 18 may not independently engage in “hands on” physical contact with the patient during the lifting/transferring process (such as placing or removing the sling, including pushing or pulling the sling under/around the patient/resident; adjusting the sling under/around the patient; and manipulating the patient when placing, adjusting or removing the sling), and may only assist in these “hands on” activities when assisting a trained adult partner while the adult partner is simultaneously engaged in such activities. • Wisconsin law prohibits 16 and 17 year olds from working during the hours they are required to be in school without an approved work experience program. They must be given a 30 minute meal break if they work longer than 6 hours. They may not work past 11pm without 8 hours of rest between the end of one shift and the start of the next shift.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provides patient care as assigned and per routine as defined by educational scope, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures.
• Answers call lights in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Documents care provided according to standards.
• Maintains a clean work and patient environment.
• Maintains supplies, including scanning, stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.
• Floats to various units based on identified patient care needs.
• Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities.

Current CNA certificate in applicable state.
Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk, hear, and use hands to handle, finger, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, steep, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
