Stevedore Operator

Summary

The Stevedore Operator is responsible for training to perform various tasks relating to the loading/unloading of various grains into or from Maritime Vessels and or barges. Additionally, the operator will train to operate ship loading gantry's, ship unloader, and heavy machinery including, skid steers and front-end loaders to perform tasks needed. The position will require housekeeping and general labor duties throughout the grain elevator when not performing stevedoring responsibilities.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for training to perform various tasks relating to the loading/unloading of various grains into or from Maritime Vessels and or barges

• Train to operate ship loading gantry's, ship unloader, and heavy machinery including, skid steers and front-end loaders to perform tasks needed

• Learns to conduct routine inspections before operating equipment to identify needed maintenance and or repairs

• Perform all work within the safety guidelines established by local state, and federal agencies as well as company policies

• Perform housekeeping and general labor duties throughout the grain elevator

Minimum Education

• High School Graduate or GED preferred

Experience Requirements

• Six months of prior ship loading experience or Union Laborer with the ability to learn PECO operation

• TWIC application is required

Experience Preferred

• Reading, Writing, Math, and Analytical skills

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Able to move freely throughout the agribusiness facilities including climbing vertical heights (0 -150'), carrying tools and equipment (0-50 lbs.), exposure temperatures (0-100) degrees Fahrenheit, humidity (0-100%), noise (50db to 100db) and chemicals (MSDS sheets available). Must be able to wear protective equipment to include self-contained breathing apparatus. Required to travel to remote agribusiness facilities and customer locations.
