GENERAL DUTIES

• Under supervision, installs, maintains and repairs piping, controls and equipment for heating systems, compresses air systems, sprinkler systems, refrigerating systems, air conditioning systems and cooling systems; performs related work.

• Installs, maintains and repairs piping, controls and equipment for heating systems, compressed air, steam and hot water systems, sprinkler systems, refrigerating systems, air conditioning systems and cooling systems.

• Installs boilers, feed water, vacuum and condensate equipment,

• Installs fuel oil piping and related auxiliary equipment.

• Lays out work from plans, specifications and/or sketches.

• Supervises the work of Steam Fitter's Helpers.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn, offering associate and baccalaureate degree in technology and health related degree programs, other career-oriented degrees and liberal arts transfer degrees in its Schools of Arts and Sciences, Technology and Design, and Professional Studies.

City Tech's Buildings and Grounds Department is seeking to hire a full-time Steamfitter to join our hardworking and dedicated team for a temporary three-month appointment. The assigned shift will be 6:30 am to 2 pm.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Five years of full-time experience acquired within the last fifteen years as a Steam Fitter; OR

2. Not less than two and one-half years of such experience acquired within the last ten years plus sufficient full-time experience as a helper or an apprentice to make up a total of five years of acceptable experience. Six months of experience will be credited for each year of apprenticeship or helper experience or for each year of completed approved trade or vocational school training in the steam fitting field.

NOTE: For appointment to some agencies, candidates must possess a Motor Vehicle Driver's License Valid in the State of New York

$112,361
