  • Job Summary

    Responsible for technical accounting support and financial reporting for select non-qualified, COLI, BOLI, and other executive benefit plans administered by Accounting Services. Also works closely with and assists other members of the Accounting Services team. Responsible for performing advanced accounting functions, including financial analysis of trust and insurance statements and the preparation of financial reports for our clients relative to their deferred compensation executive benefit plans. In addition, the position provides support and works closely with other Newport internal departments that provide various client, legal and financial services to our clients.

    Core Responsibilities:

    • Helps ensure our client's compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

    • Assists with preparation of client financial reports, including ad-hoc variance analysis

    • Analyzes accounts, records and reports. Investigates and resolves discrepancies

    • Prepares audit work papers

    • Updates related schedules and resolves outstanding issues

    • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports

    • Interfaces with external client contacts on a daily basis relative to client financial reporting and inquiries

    • Participates in special projects and provides support for other team members, as well as other internal departments

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience

    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel skills

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    • Ability to organize, multi-task and adapt in a fast pace environment while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines

    • Professional discretion in handling confidential financial information

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 1-3 years of accounting experience
