Sr Staff Accountant

BASIC PURPOSE:

The primary purpose of the Sr. Staff Accountant position is to analyze specific company activities including fuel inventory, fuel margins, account reconciliation, and monthly close. The Sr. Staff Accountant is also responsible for the completion and analysis of work papers and special projects as assigned.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for the analysis and distribution of the Daily Flash Report and discount estimate.

• Responsible for the reconciliation of the fuel payables balance sheet account and workpaper presentation.

• Responsible for the intercompany analysis between Love's and Musket.

• Make independent decisions and recommendations regarding journal entries, reconciliations, and work paper analysis.

• Assist in the annual audit of Love's and Musket. Divide workload among staff accountants and review their work before submitting the sample to our audit team.

• Use discretion and independent judgment in developing enhancements to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.

• Enhance efficiencies through independent analysis of auditing of control procedures.

• Identify and assess potential opportunities for improvement.

• Interact with other departments and operations.

• Other duties assigned as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Accounting degree required

• CPA preferred

• 3-5 years of accounting experience preferred

• 3-5 years of reconciliation experience preferred

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Hard Skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software applications and computer programs; SAP knowledge a plus; fuel experience a plus

• Soft Skills: Ability to handle a continuous stream of work; ability to interact with a great diversity of people; mus have excellent attention to detail and analytical skills; must be able to meet deadlines, be reliable and meetdepartmental key performance metrics

• ·Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.

• Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

• Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.

• Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
