  • PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

    The Sr Manager, Transportation Operations, is responsible for all aspects of the TruBlu long haul fleet, Kabi and strategic logistics accounts, and the management of all TruBlu fleet assets. Assumes overall leadership responsibility for TruBlu's long haul fleet personnel, equipment, and related functions. Develops and implements a national strategy to lower cost and increase fleet profitability. Serves as the primary point of customer contact with Kabi leadership and other revenue producing strategic logistics customers in developing transportation solutions. Acts as the centralized, corporate liaison with FMC-NA Distribution network with the primary responsibility of ensuring that all TruBlu's equipment is properly sourced, specified, maintained and utilized in support of FMC-NA operations.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    TruBlu Long Haul Fleet

    • Overseas a national long haul fleet consisting of 90+ over the road/long haul drivers, 92 tractors, and 240 trailers.

    • Works with the Director of Transportation to determine the overall long-haul fleet strategy, organizational size, and the nature of the operations/work.

    • Oversees the centralized planning of efficient long haul routes and utilization of drivers and equipment

    • Develops and maintains TruBlu Logistics relationships, internally with DC Management and hourly personnel, TruBlu Sales, Fresenius Billing, Legal, Risk Management, Compliance and Regulatory.

    • Designs and implements communication strategies to improve customer service, lower fulfillment costs and maintain customer satisfaction. Develops detailed training materials and programs in support of customer and operational needs.

    • Implement new technology that has value for TruBlu operations and develop system tools to enhance processes.

    • Compiles, analyzes, and interprets statistical data regarding performance versus standards & regulations.

    • Writes and reviews standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to operations; warehousing & distribution, long haul transportation and final mile delivery.

    • Ensures that all TruBlu fleet expectations and requirements are met, or exceeded, while not adversely impacting the ongoing Fresenius renal business activities.

    Kabi & Strategic Logistics Accounts

    • Overseas $12M annual transportation/3PL revenue budget.

    • Identifies and develops new business opportunities based on the knowledge of customer's business needs and how they align with TruBlu Logistics capabilities and capacity. Identifies value added services that will assist TruBlu in growing profitable revenue through new business development.

    • Works closely with, and makes recommendations to, senior management regarding identified issues and decisions related to the TruBlu Logistics revenue business. This includes determining the need for resourcing personnel and equipment to satisfy customer requirements.

    • Serves as the primary contact person for issues regarding Kabi and other strategic transportation accounts throughout the FMC-NA distribution network. Manages the execution of contracted work in all DC's throughout the TruBlu network.

    • Extensive customer interface, new and existing, including service proposals, rate quoting, and program management.

    • Measures and evaluates the profit and loss effectiveness of TruBlu Logistics operations to ensure profitability of each account and conducts periodic reviews of cost elements to validate costs and reported Gross Margin. Works with the sales organization to recommend or update sales on key performance indicators relating to profit and loss.

    • Conducts Kabi facility audits/inspections and investigations as needed and facilitates customer's external audits (e.g. Physical inventory of customer, customer visits to TruBlu facilities).

    Fleet Management

    • Responsible for managing fleet equipment and maintenance service providers to ensure they provide the expected level of service. This includes the leasing of equipment, rentals, preventative maintenance, roadside assistance, IFTA reporting, and all licensing and permits. Fleet service providers includes but is not limited to: ARI, Penske, Ryder, PLM, Premier, NationaLease, IdeaLease, Pac Lease. Also sees that FMCNA complies with the operational and mileage parameters of all equipment leases

    • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) and technical resource for sourcing and specking equipment, including all tractors, straight trucks, vans, trailers, and liftgates.

    • Centralized management of all TruBlu fleet assets through the entire life cycle - sourcing, maintenance, resale.

    General Management

    • Reviews and complies with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.

    • Acts as a Subject Manner Expert for the entire supply chain organization as needed to centralize and standardize process and procedures.

    • Assist with various projects as assigned by direct management.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISION:

    • Responsible for managing exempt and non-exempt personnel. Also, overseas approximately 100 indirect reports; consisting of administrative and support roles plus 90+ over the road/long haul drivers.

    • Provide leadership and direction to both direct and indirect reports in execution of day-to-day job responsibilities and career development.

    EDUCATION :

    • Bachelor's Degreein Operations, Logistics, or Engineering; in lieu of degree additional years of relevant experience may be considered.

    EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • 6 - 8 years' related experience.

    • 3+ years' supervisory or project/program management experience preferred.

    • Experience with DOT & OSHA reporting requirements and outside agency requirements (FDA, DEA, OSHA, BOPS etc.).

    • Proficient with PCs, Microsoft Office applications and related software systems.

    • Operational knowledge of supply chain systems, inventory management and safety programs.

    • Familiar with DOT regulations, driver through equipment requirements.

    • Position resides in DFW

    • Experience in investigating and root-cause analysis.

    • Distribution Center experience to understand rollouts and impacts to related processes, procedures & record retention.

    • Strong problem solving, analytical and organizational skills.

    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
