Role Overview: Support our design and engineering teams by creating precise drawings and models using computer-aided design (CAD) software. Collaborate with engineers and designers to transform conceptual ideas into detailed technical drawings, contributing to the development of world-class vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize CAD software to produce accurate 2D and 3D drawings and models according to project specifications and design requirements.
- Work closely with engineering teams to understand project objectives and convey design concepts into technical drawings and models.
- Update and revise existing drawings to reflect design changes and improvements.
- Ensure all CAD designs and drawings meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in design reviews, offering input to optimize design processes and improve efficiency.
- Maintain organized records of all CAD drawings and models, ensuring version control and accessibility.
- Prepare layouts, plans, installation/construction drawings, and estimates for configuring equipment, architecture, and support areas within the manufacturing shop.
- Produce technical documents (progress reports, status reports, change impact analysis) related to layout changes within the building layout.
- Manage and coordinate building layout with various teams (internal and external) during project planning, launch, and execution.
- Work with vendors to prepare Statements of Work for construction projects.
- Review and manage bid packets from contractors for construction projects.
- Oversee and manage contractors during construction/layout changes.
- Review and inspect "as-built" drawings and conditions in building projects, updating layouts based on field measurements and verifications.
- Develop detailed project plans based on milestones and timelines decided from the project scope.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Proficiency in CAD software like AutoCAD, CATIA, or SolidWorks.
- Solid understanding of building layout principles.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience as a Plant Layout/CAD Specialist or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and/or construction projects.
- Knowledge of automotive design principles and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with plant layout in automotive manufacturing.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to escalate concerns or project delays to stakeholders to ensure timely project progress/completion.
