    About the role

    We are excited to announce an opportunity with Orica for a Specialist - Security and Emergency Response, Winnemucca, Nevada, within our Orica Specialty Mining Chemicals team.

    The Specialist - Security and Emergency Response is responsible for the practical application of physical, operational and product/raw material security requirements. Assures security of the Site during normal and abnormal operations, including security operations, personnel access management system & procedures, internal and external product theft/sabotage prevention and investigation, emergency response plan application and emergency response PPE management.

    What you will be doing

    General
    • Ensure adherence to safety, health, and environmental procedures by all team members.
    • Support a self-motivated work environment and guide management on legislative requirements.
    • Identify compliance risks and develop proposals to address them in changing circumstances.
    Safety & Environment
    • Maintain an effective register for decontaminated process equipment leaving the facility.
    • Oversee security systems and ensure infrastructure is maintained per regulations.
    Security
    • Manage the Site Security Team and ensure operational effectiveness of the Personnel Access Management System.
    • Maintain a register of authorized vehicles and equipment, ensuring pre-qualifications and insurances are in place.
    • Develop and maintain clear guidance procedures for compliance with security systems and regulations, including the Site Security Plan.
    • Monitor security investigations and communicate progress to Management.
    • Liaise with local, State and Federal agencies on security matters and maintain Security training as required.
    • Represent Orica as a member of the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).
    Contractor Management
    • Ensure contractor management systems meet corporate requirements and compliance with WHS standards.
    • Verify contractor personnel pre-qualifications, including inductions and training records.
    • Serve as the main contact for contractor management.
    Emergency Response
    • Ensure the Emergency Response System and associated infrastructure/equipment is in place, effective and continuously improved.
    • Maintain a professional and constructive working relationship with local emergency and public safety/police services.
    • Manage training and drills for emergency response teams and maintain readiness for all emergencies.
    • Analyse regulations affecting emergency plans and provide updates to leadership.
    Metrics
    • Emergency response exercises conducted per required schedule.
    • Emergency response training conducted per required schedule.
    • Emergency response equipment maintained according to schedule.
    • Contractor compliance audits conducted per required schedule.
    What you will bring
    • Minimum experience of 5 years in a manufacturing industry with security, regulatory, emergency, and incident management experience.
    • Thorough knowledge of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) regulations.
    • Good knowledge of Security and Emergency Response systems, including maritime regulatory requirements.
    • Good interpersonal communication.
    • High integrity and strong personal values.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to adapt to new circumstances and work in a team-oriented manner.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • FEMA ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800.
    • 24 HR Rescue Tech Certification.
    • 40 HR Advanced HAZMAT Operations Certification.
    • Emergency Medical Responder Certification.
    • OSHA 30 HR Certification.
    • Facility Security Officer (FSO) Training and Certification.
    Role dimensions

    2 direct contractor reports (Security team).

    Operating Environment: Reporting to the Safety, Health, Environment & Security Manager, the incumbent is required to ensure compliance with the corporate and regulatory requirements for the management of Physical Security for the facility and Emergency Response capability.

    The incumbent will require an ability to work with a number of different site teams in a cooperative manner.

    Physical Demands
    • Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks as necessary.
    • Ability to wear a respirator and other emergency response PPE as necessary.
