The Department of Corrections is hiring a Special Education Teacher for our Lino Lakes Facility! The Special Teacher exists to ensure incarcerated students eligible for special education services receive educational programming that enables them to make progress toward their annual educational goals, to participate in the general curriculum as much as possible, and to prepare for a successful transition to adulthood. This includes effectively evaluating eligibility, determining present levels of educational performance, developing, and implementing Individual Education Programs (IEPs), and facilitating transition planning. This position will also provide instruction in a well-managed and comprehensive instructional environment to any or all the following education programs: Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Educational Development diploma (GED), High School Diploma, English as a Second Language and English Language Learning (ESL/ELL), post-secondary preparation, and life skills.
This position will have direct contact with incarcerated students.

Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:
Possession of a current Minnesota Tier 3 or 4 teaching license.
Experience working in an education setting.
Experience working in a correctional setting.
Experience teaching Special Education.
Full-time teaching experience as a licensed teacher.
Physical Requirements

Additional Requirements
The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.
Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
