Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Shop Helper for a manufacturing facility in Langley. Our facility specializes in the production of industrial-sized rims, primarily used in large mining trucks. As a shop helper, you will work with hand and power tools, grinders, and other equipment on the production line to finish and inspect pre-welded/fabricated rims. This role requires a mechanically inclined individual who is eager to learn and grow within the industry.

Work Environment

Our production floor has 26 people working in a large, open, and heavy industrial environment dedicated to making rims for the mining industry. The shop can be cold and dirty, but it is a collaborative space where employees often stay for over 20 years. This role starts on the day shift but requires availability for afternoon shifts as well. Day Shift: 6:00 am-2:30 pm, Afternoon Shift: 2:45 pm-11:15 pm.

Responsibilities

• Grind and finish pre-welded/fabricated rims using belt sanders, grinders, and other shop tools.

• Perform basic MIG welding tasks.

• Visually inspect products for defects (training provided).

• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes as needed.

• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.

Essential Skills

• Experience in a production or manufacturing environment.

• Proficiency in using hand and power tools.

• Basic welding skills.

• Mechanical aptitude.

• Ability to lift to 50 lbs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 6 months experience in an industrial shop.

• Good attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative.

• Reliable transportation.

• C-level welding ticket (nice to have).

• Experience with overhead cranes (nice to have).
