Shipyard Machinist

Job Description

Seeking an experienced outside machinist with at least 6 years of experience on boilers or steam equipment. You are expected to be adept at reading and comprehending blueprints, sketches, drawings, technical manuals, and work process instructions to efficiently install, and repair boilers, and other pressure vessels. This role involves direct reporting to the assigned supervisor.

• May install ship machinery such as steam valves, boilers, propelling machinery, auxiliary motors, pumps, ventilating equipment, and steering gears.

• Tests and inspects installed machinery and equipment during dock and sea trials.

• Assists, guides, and demonstrates good marine practices.

• Identifies and troubleshoots mechanical problems and reports to supervisor.
