    We are looking to fill the position of Fire Alarm Technician with individuals who do not have prior experience in the fire alarm industry. All candidates selected will undergo a comprehensive 4-week boot camp training program. This training will cover the theory of fire protection, various NFPA code requirements, hands-on training in troubleshooting, programming, inspection, and testing, as well as modules on leadership skills and customer service. Training sessions take place at both the HQ in Tysons, VA and local training facilities, with a strong emphasis placed on dedication to excellence, completion of daily assignments, weekly assessments, and a final test as prerequisites for continued employment. Upon successful program completion, candidates will be scheduled to undertake the NICET examination.

    Main Requirements:

    • Familiarity with low-voltage electrical systems and components

    • Proficiency in troubleshooting electronic circuits and systems

    • Strong understanding of electronics principles and components

    • Ability to interpret technical schematics and diagrams

    • Familiarity with fire alarm systems and related equipment (preferred)

    • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards

    • Commitment to undergo specialized bootcamp training in fire alarm systems, with daily homework's and progressive weekly testing

    • Successful completion of a fire alarm technician training program

    • Obtaining relevant certifications (such as NICET) within a specified timeframe

    • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    • Strong leadership skills

    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

    • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development

    • Willingness to adhere to all necessary regulations and safety guidelines

    • Ability to obtain required licenses or certifications for fire alarm system work

    • Must have an excellent safety record, a valid driver's license, and clean driving record to meet corporate eligibility requirements to drive a company owned vehicle.

    • US citizenship.

    • Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance.

    Pay Range : $29.00 - $32.00

    Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma or GED required

    • 3 years of relevant electronics technicians experience or

    • 2 years technology degree and

    • 1 year of relevant experience

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct routine inspections of fire alarm systems per NFPA 72 and local standards to identify potential issues and ensure proper functioning.

    • Functionally-test Initiating Devices, Notification Appliances, and all other peripherals and system components.

    • Conduct testing of interconnected system including but not limited to elevators, HVAC shut down, fire doors etc.

    • Assist with inspections and testing of sprinkler and special hazard systems

    • Perform testing, troubleshooting, and repairs of fire alarm systems to address any malfunctions or deficiencies.

    • Document all service activities, including inspections, testing results, and repairs, according to company procedures.

    • Properly complete testing reports with noted test results and corresponding deficiencies in timely manner

    • Communicate system performance and deficiencies to customers and to account managers for accurate and efficient quoting of recommended repairs.

    • Collaborate with senior technicians and supervisors to learn about advanced fire alarm system technologies and best practices.

    • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of fire alarm systems as needed.

    • Determine materials needed for simple repairs and order them.

    • Respond promptly to service calls and emergency situations to resolve issues and ensure the continuous operation of fire alarm systems.

    • Adhere to safety protocols, industry regulations, and company policies to maintain a safe working environment and uphold compliance standards.

    • Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients, addressing their concerns, and maintaining positive relationships.

    • Develop and maintain relationships with building owners, building managers, and other customer representatives.

    • Responsible for operation of the following test equipment: Volt Meter, Ohm Meter, Oscilloscope, Multimeter, Tone Generator, and Battery Tester.

    • Maintain truck inventory.

    • Be on rotation to respond to afterhours service calls as scheduled by supervisor.

    • Pursue and maintain industry certifications, as well as grow technical and customer service skills with active support from MCDean.

    • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, work orders, schematics, blueprints, and specifications.

    Physical & Personal Requirements:

    • Lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period.

    • Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.

    • Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.

    • Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.

    • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.

    • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.

    • Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

    • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

    • Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).

    • See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

    • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

    • Work overtime as directed by supervisor.

    • Must be able to pass a background check.

    • Must be able to pass random drug screening.

    • Must have valid driver's license, good driving records to operate a MC Dean vehicle as part of this job requirement.

    • Must consistently report to work on time, work well with other employees to accomplish a common goal, and maintain a safe work environment.

    • Must have a reliable means of transportation to arrive on job sites which vary based on the customers' locations and schedules
