    Job Summary

    Plans, develops, and conducts tests on mechanical and electronic components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, medical, military, or scientific applications by performing the following duties. Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected determine methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. May supervise the activities of others.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Candidate will support the Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) Target Division (TD) on various target programs such as the Zombie and Economical Target 2 missiles. Candidate will manage and support the development of test event activities to include equipment and test requirements, flight test launch operations, and range safety support. Candidate will support development of target missile requirements, flight test launch operations, post flight test results data analysis and test planning liaison.

    • Candidate must be experienced in launch operations and test planning for White Sands Missile Range and similar launch locations, as well as supporting the execution of launch operations. The candidate will also participate in flight test planning meetings, missile Integrated Product Team meetings, and other associated target meetings as required.

    • Candidate must have the personal and interface skills to provide direct support to divergent customers. Requirements:

    • Requires a BS Degree in engineering

    • Familiarity with SMDC White Sands facilities

    • Determines conditions under which tests are to be conducted and sequences and phases of test operations.

    • Directs and exercises control over operational, functional, and performance phases of tests.

    • Confers with customers, vendors, engineering and technical personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data and data interpretation.

    • Analyzes and interprets test data and prepares technical reports for use by engineering management personnel.

    • Develops or uses computer software and hardware to conduct tests on electronic products and systems.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    This job may have supervisory responsibilities and may provide technical leadership to lower level Test Engineers including carrying out lead responsibilities in accordance with applicable regulations and laws and the organization's policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to training employees, planning, assigning, directing work and resolving technically related work problems.

    Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience

    Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in a engineering and a minimum of 20 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

    Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a general knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.

    Other Essential Duties

    • Follows all import/export requirements, consulting with facility import/export personnel as required.

    Other Skills and Abilities

    • Basic Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100

    Other Qualifications

    • Active Government Security Clearance

    • Ability to travel (domestically/internationally) approximately +/-10_%
