    BASIC FUNCTION

    This position is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining drug information solutions on web platforms. This person is considered expert in software engineering and will work with various components of the organization to help solve business product needs as well as provide guidance in developing web-based applications. This position regularly interacts with other software engineers, software QA engineers and product managers. This person must be collaborative, adaptive, self-critical, and able to thrive in a team-based development environment.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work as a part of an Agile/Scrum development team.

    • Design, build and maintain advanced web applications.

    • Applies programming experience using Java.

    • Demonstrates a desire to learn new technologies.

    • Proactively learns and shares technical competencies and best practices to continuously improve self, team, and organization.

    • Applies in-depth business knowledge and technical skills to design, construct, maintain, and troubleshoot mobile applications.

    • Leverages development tools using primarily MyEclipse.

    • Demonstrates conceptual experience with object oriented programming, unit testing, usability, and exception handling.

    • Demonstrates the ability to solve analytical problems both independently and with peers as the situation requires.

    • Systematically troubleshoots production issues and delivers timely resolutions.

    • Works with offshore team members, reviewing quality of work and providing technical guidance.

    • Ability to work on multiple tasks, make commitments, and deliver within agreed upon timeframe.

    • Create documentation and other materials to support ongoing development activities.

    • Demonstrates a cooperative spirit by actively listening, and collaborating with other team members as well as other teams to foster an innovative, problem-solving environment.

    • Works with non-technical colleagues such as Product Management and Drug Content to understand business needs and propose effective solutions.

    • Participate in all relevant meetings: Development Meetings; Project Team Meetings; Issue management meetings, and others as assigned.

    • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    Education: A Bachelor's of Science (BS) in Computer Science/Technology or equivalent field.

    Experience

    • 5+ years of object oriented software development experience.

    • 3+ years hands on Java web development experience.

    • 3+ years working with at least one major database platform including Oracle or MySQL Or SQL Server.

    • Preferred candidates will have experience in developing commercial software applications.

    • Knowledge of software development process and experience participating in complex projects.

    • Experience working on a team delivering software using Agile (Scrum).

    • Background or understanding of the healthcare information technology industry is a plus.
