The Hartford's Enterprise Data Services (EDS) Organization is seeking a Senior Scrum master. We are looking for a talented professional with a track record of being a servant leader for Scrum teams. Our ideal candidate will leverage deep Agile expertise complimented by program delivery skills and financial acumen to deliver on invest and maintenance initiatives within the Sales & Distribution (S&D) IT portfolio.

    This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office location 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

    Responsibilities

    • Lead execution & delivery using Agile framework for multiple teams. Ensure progress toward objectives, KPIs and commitments; guide assigned Agile teams to deliver the required product increments and outcomes.

    • Reports to Delivery Lead; Partners with the Product Owner, Business leadership, Business Architect and Tech Leads to form execution delivery plans and manage progress and overall delivery of PI Objectives

    • Identify opportunities to improve team-level Agile performance; focus teams on customer value, quality and continuous improvement activities with. Remove team-level impediments and resolve conflicts; anticipate challenges, identify risks, and recommend mitigations and solutions.

    • Lead team collaboration, decision-making, and problem-solving processes. Encourage teams to self-organize, promote accountability, and deliver high-quality results.

    • Build and leverage effective alliances across other teams and the technical and business communities.

    • Increase the overall Agile maturity for teams and support higher complexity work towards successful outcomes.

    • Track and communicate the overall team progress providing visibility to stakeholders.

    • Practice and encourage Agile mindset and behaviors with servant leadership mindset; coach, inspire and mentor teams on Agile principles, values, and practices while role modeling The Hartford behaviors.

    • Support resource planning and financials tracking activities at the portfolio level.

    Qualifications

    • Solid experience in a Scrum Master or similar Agile role applying Agile principles and practices including delivery of several epics, releases, and application of a wide variety of patterns and techniques (i.e. leveraging burndown, facilitating retrospectives, refining user stories, etc.).

    • Experience implementing best practices and standards related to Agile product development.

    • Experience leading others with the ability to earn trust while still challenging the team to improve and operate outside its comfort zone in an Agile environment.

    • Agile Mindset: Embody Agile core values of openness, courage, respect, focus, and commitment. Infuse Agile principles, practices and methodologies to achieve team success.

    • Demonstrated ability to take hands-on approach and actively contribute to overall team success and achieve goals.

    • Execution & Delivery: Proven experience in initiating, planning, executing, and managing delivery of complex data-driven projects with strong ability to coordinate cross-functional teams, manage dependencies and align project outcomes with business objectives & timelines.

    • Financial acumen with ability to understand and manage project budgets, track financial metrics and ensure alignment of project deliverables with financial objective.

    • Experience in coaching and mentoring junior team members and Scrum Masters, helping them achieve team goals, develop agile best practices and effective-problem solving skills.

    • Scrum Master, SAFe certifications

    • Programming/development experience

    • Knowledge on Data warehousing and data assets including Snowflake, SQL Server, Tableau, or similar data assets.

    • Property & Casualty insurance industry experience

    Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $106,720 - $160,080
