Job Description
We develop the Cloud Premigration Advisor Tool (CPAT), which is used to analyze and assess databases for their suitability to migrate to Oracle Cloud platforms. As a key part of Oracle's cloud migration strategy, we work with groups throughout the cloud, database, and application development organizations to track and analyze the ever-evolving world of cloud database computing. We work with languages including java, JDBc and SQL as well as technologies including Git, JSON, JUnit, Jenkins, Artifactory and Gradle. Our product integrates with large-scale management tools like the Cloud Migration Advisor & Enterprise Manager, workflow automation such as Fleet Patching and Provisioning's Zero Downtime Migration, cloud-native features like the Database Migration Service and Oracle Autonomous Database and developer tools like SQLcl.
As a technical project lead of the CPAT team, you will be leading a small agile development team that is the key enabler to easy database migration into Oracle Cloud. CPAT helps customers make informed decisions about the best migration method to use, any application changes that might be desirable for their cloud target, and any issues that need to be resolved in order to have a successful migration. This makes CPAT a critical first step in any cloud migration project.
You will lead the design, development and testing of the project, work with the team that is located in the US and Mexico. You will be responsible for developing functional and design specifications, implement and review code, collaborate on projects with other leads and developers, test and debug programs, and work to gather and understand the requirements from customers from both inside and outside of Oracle.
Regularly interface with multiple high visibility teams
Manage incoming requirements from various sources
Direct, tutor and mentor junior project members
Deliver high quality CPAT releases on a quarterly basis
Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
Responsibilities
Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Computer Science or Equivalent discipline with 10+ years of experience as a technical project lead
Over 10 years experience and expert level in core Java 8 and upper versions, including JSON serialization, multithreaded programming and performance evaluation testing
Good understanding of how Oracle database architecture works
Solid Oracle database knowledge, especially about the data dictionary
Deep understanding of data structures and algorithms
Over 10 years experience of Oracle database and PL/SQL
Experience with Oracle logical migration tools such as Data Pump and Golden Gate is desirable
Database migration experience
Good understanding of REST, JSON, HTML and JavaScript
Experience working on GitHub/Bitbucket, Jenkins, Maven/Gradle
Application deployment experience using CI/CD
Oracle cloud tenancies work experience
Ability to communicate your ideas concisely in English
Solid communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment that demands coordination across time zones
Ability to work on a large collaborative team to achieve organizational goals

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

CA: Hiring Range in CAD from: $103,700 to $192,600 per annum.
US: Hiring Range in USD from: $150,200 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
