    As the Senior Director, Medical Affairs Strategy and Innovation, you will be part of the Medical and Scientific Affairs leadership team, charged with redefining the role of Medical and Scientific Affairs in the innovation at Beckman Coulter. You will lead complex, multi-discipline strategic medical affairs planning activities for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics. This role can be remote or onsite in Chaska, MN. In this role, reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, you will help pave the way to achieving a strong innovation pipeline that will support core growth and new product development in commercialization.

We are seeking a candidate who is comfortable working in a dynamic fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgency and a proven ability to lead resources in a fast-paced environment.

    In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

    • Define and implement medical strategy for current and novel Beckman Coulter products that is aligned to business strategy.

    • Support critical innovation initiatives by gathering and providing medical input to support new product development, launch and post-launch success, such as conducting clinical and scientific advisory boards, building scientific and clinical leader strategic collaborations, and establishing research and other partnerships.

    • Provide medical expertise to support defining strategic needs for innovation and new product or services development in collaboration with the R&D and business unit teams.

    • Provide medical expertise within strategic disease areas as a key member of cross-functional teams during product development launch and post-launch to ensure medical readiness for new product introduction and adoption. Provide assessments of current clinical practice, scientific publications and new technology, identify unmet needs within patient care pathways to support identifying and prioritizing new product opportunities.

    • Establish close, collaborative relationship with other Beckman Coulter functions with a focus on areas of synergy to improve innovation process, product development launch and post-launch success.

    • Communicate with Strategy and Business Development to share information on future trends in clinical medicine, medical diagnostics and new technology.

    • Leading the team of MSA associates by ensuring team's capability and establishing processes to provide excellence of medical capabilities for all innovation and R&D activities, and internal training.

    The essential requirements of the job include

    • 10+ years of industry experience leading medical affairs strategy and product launches for innovative in vitro diagnostic, lab-developed or companion diagnostics products or medical devices. Medical affairs experience within Pharma may be considered. Medical degree or PhD with 14+ years of combined work experience in Laboratory Medicine, Hematopathology, Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Infectious disease, Neurology, or other medical specialty.

    • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills including the ability to scale, hire, motivate, develop, and retain top talent and to drive business outcomes through Medical and Scientific Affairs activities.

    • Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional partnerships with R&D, Commercial, Marketing, Business Development, and other internal stakeholders.

    • Experience working with and supporting scientific and clinical leader relationships in both industry and academic settings.

    • Ability to define objectives, processes through continuous improvement, priorities, and milestones, and manage competing priorities to meet and exceed goals in a fast-paced environment.

    • Credible, approachable, and engaging communication style skilled at influencing outcomes by shaping dialogue across and outside the organization.

    • Demonstrated ability to effectively synthesize technical information and communicate appropriately to diverse audiences.

    Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

    • Willingness to travel frequently as needed (up to 40%) required.

    • The salary range for this role is $240K - $295K. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

    This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
