    Responsibilities

    Responsible for creating relationships with payers that enable access to care at Mayo. This position will have a primary focus on MCHS Wisconsin and a secondary focus of Mayo Clinic in the Midwest. Responsible for negotiating contracts for assigned payers. Negotiates financial and other key contract terms directly with payer's senior level management. Drafts written contract language. Responsible for coordinating with other internal administrative areas to ensure efficient implementation and ongoing maintenance of assigned contracts. Oversees interactions with external payers for issues resolution. Maintains relationship with counterpart at external payers, corresponds routinely, and explores opportunities to enhance the relationships. Establishes and maintains relationships with the practice and administrative leadership. Provides input in developing contract strategy overall and for specific payers. Participates and provides input in the development of enterprise level, regional level, and site specific contracting strategies to maintain and grow market share and access to Mayo services. Educates Mayo leadership regarding managed care contracts and the payer market. Institutional resource on health care payer market issues.

    *This position is a combination of remote and onsite support work. Individual must live within driving distance to the Mayo Clinic Rochester campus.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a business related field. Master's degree in Health Administration (MHA), Finance (MBA) or other related field is required; working towards degree with completion within three years will be considered. A Juris Doctorate may also be considered in lieu of a Master's degree. Candidates must have 5+ years of health care administration experience, preferably in a large academic medical center. Familiarity with content and structure of legal contracts necessary. Requires an understanding of corporate benefit options, insurance industry standards, payer payment methodologies, managed care concepts, health care finance fundamentals, medical terminology, third party billing, payment and collection principles. Familiarity with revenue cycle operations and other applicable internal administrative areas is necessary. Need superior skills in problem solving and decision making. Need strong skills in managing multiple tasks concurrently. Strong verbal and writing skills required. Positive attitude and strong persuasive skills needed.

    Compensation Detail

    $156,166.40 - $226,449.60 / year. Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
