Senior Data Scientist

Overview

SOSi is seeking a skilled Data Scientist supporting a government customer in Chantilly, VA and a familiarity with our Sponsor's environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AI/ML model development, be proficient in Python programming, experienced in handling SQL databases, and comfortable working in command line interfaces. This role requires the ability to solve complex problems independently and collaboratively in a dynamic work environment. Strong communication skills are essential for translating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and delivering actionable insights.

Essential Job Duties

• Build and refine AI/ML models, including constructing training and testing datasets, performing model training, testing, and evaluating performance metrics.

• Utilize expert-level proficiency in Python for data manipulation, statistical analysis, and model implementation.

• Access and manage data stored in SQL databases, ensuring data integrity and efficient querying for analysis and model training. :

• Navigate and utilize CLI tools effectively for data processing, environment setup, and script execution.

• Apply excellent problem-solving skills to address technical challenges, both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

• Comprehend project requirements and execute tasks accordingly, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.

• Utilize Jira and Confluence for project tracking, task management, and documentation purposes to maintain project transparency and progress.

• Effectively communicate technical concepts and deliver results to non-technical leadership and stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making.

Minimum Requirements

• Experience working in the Sponsor's environment and familiarity with the different data science services and compute environments.

• TS/SCI w/Poly Government Security Clearance.

• Hands-on experience building AI/ML models. This includes building a training/testing dataset, training and testing the model, and evaluating performance.

• Expert-level proficiency in Python programming.

• Experience using a SQL database.

• Must be comfortable using the command line interface.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

• Must be able to comprehend requirements and effectively execute tasks accordingly.

• Experience utilizing Jira and Confluence for project management and documentation purposes.

• Must be able to effectively communicate technical concepts and deliver results to non-technical leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Natural language processing.

• Proficient using cloud infrastructure.

• Experience working with cyber datasets or in a cyber data scientist role.

Work Environment

• Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
