    We are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join our client's dynamic team near Selkirk, NY. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in cost accounting and demonstrate a keen attention to detail, analytical skills, and proficiency in financial management. This role is crucial for providing insights into cost efficiency, financial planning, and strategic decision-making.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.

    • Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization.

    • Collect and analyze data to determine costs of business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.

    • Conduct physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program.

    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost forecasts and budgets.

    • Assist in month-end closing by preparing journal entries related to inventory and cost of goods sold.

    • Investigate variances between standard and actual costs, identifying trends and areas for improvement.

    • Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to ensure accurate costing and support new product development.

    • Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.

    • Maintain and improve processes to enhance data accuracy and reporting efficiency.

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.

    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

    • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and procedures.

    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.

    • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.

    • Strong organizational and time management skills.

    • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
