    Summary

    Reporting to the program manager, Creative Communications, the senior communications/presentation designer creates PowerPoint presentations, illustrations, diagrams, animations, PDFs, social media graphics and other graphics in support of MD Anderson's leadership, institutional initiatives and communications. Possesses the ability to translate and design complex information into visually impactful, top-notch presentations, and to create smart data visualization graphics into simple but memorable visuals.

    The ideal candidate will have experience in graphic design, and be proficient in PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Cloud. Experience using Adobe After Effects is also preferred.

    Key Functions

    Responsible for helping initiate, develop and implement communications strategies and design materials using independent planning and problem-solving skills. The focus of this position is presentation design support for MD Anderson's organizational leaders and institutional initiatives and communications. The job requires excellent interpersonal skills and high levels of productivity, ensuring projects are handled efficiently and on time. Some evening hours or weekends may be necessary when working with tight deadlines. Must possess the ability to work independently and exhibit strong attention to details, but to also take creative direction and feedback, and to collaborate as part of a team.

    Professional PowerPoint presentation design:

    • Demonstrates professional skills producing high-quality PowerPoint presentations on tight deadlines.

    • Designs for a variety of institutional priorities using basic animations, embedded videos, motion graphics, special effects and sound files.

    • Researches and selects multiple images from a digital database, creates infographics or other data visualization graphics to enhance multi-slide PowerPoint decks.

    General graphic design:

    • Works with colleagues across the institution to develop branded designs for brochures, publications, event materials, posters, infographics, and web and social media projects as needed.

    • Possesses knowledge of file formats needed for various platforms.

    Brand support:

    • Counsels clients on best practices and serves as a knowledgeable steward of MD Anderson's visual and editorial brand.

    • Follows established standards ensuring brand compliance of all projects.

    • Serves as a brand steward with colleagues.

    Other duties as assigned

    Education

    Required : Associate's degree in graphic design or related field.

    Experience

    Required : Five years of experience in graphic design, public relations, communications, writing/editing or related field. May substitute required degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
